    Ha!

So all week I was thinking that I would have today off. No such luck. I am at work.

It's not so bad though. I mean I am getting paid, and I had nothing to do at home anyway. It's just that I was looking foward to sleeping in. Oh well can't win them all.

Writing is going slow. Managed about 1000 words in DS yesterday, but it feels like I am trying to run through water. At such a slow pace it'll take me forever to write the thing. I hope that I get some writing energy next week to try and tch up for the shortcomings of this one.

Anyway... I was watching PBS last night and the show Now had a special about the religious right trying to control the actions of judges. It was kinda scary. I mean, we scorn countries that are run by religious laws, but there is this segment in our country trying to make us one of those countries. Personally, that is a bad idea. We would lose one of the basic rights in this country, freedom of religion, if these people win. We do not need to equate morality with religion. There are a number of highly moral people who do not practice religion.

There are a number of you out there who can glimpse my views on the religious movement in the country right now, but I am kicking around the idea of an opinion essay on the subject. If we who don't want to be controlled by religion don't speak out then we will be controlled. Christianity as a whole is an extremely intolerant religion. I'm not saying that the people are intolerant, I know several very tolerant christians, but the religion and ideals can be very intolerant.

I know that I will probably be comment spammed for this from those who think that religious law is the way to go... but as a non-christian I feel that having a religion forced upon me is extremely offensive. We apologize for history, and scorn our ancestors, but we fail to see that there are those doing the exact same thing today.

So before I ramble any more I'll post this, and wait for the hate mail to arrive.

I'm just getting started. I reread this and it's just a taste. I really do feel like I am being shoved into a religous box at times. What's worse is that there are already rumors that religion will be the focus of the next presidential election.

    Yipes.

Please, by all means, write an opinion essay. It would do so many people good to actually understand what is happening right under their noses. I do agree with you that Christianity is a very intolerant religion. It even goes so far as to be intolerant of the Christians that are part of the religion. Please do not misunderstand and think that I am in favor of the behavior, because I'm not. However, the largest problem is that anybody that does not believe exactly as they do are outnumbered by thousands. What we can do is voice an opinion as often as possible, but I can see no way of avoiding the religious law in the United States, and the eventual governing by religion. It's already present, and has been since the founding of this country. Our money even says 'In God We Trust'. Complete freedom does not exist in the US, and it never has. The law of God is refected in the law of man here. Look at the commandments and Federal crimes. One and the same, for the most offensive acts. One of the most basic rights we have is the right to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness. If it would make me happy to drive down the street in a golf car when no one else is on the road, I would get a ticket. If it would make me happy to take a stroll through the park after dark, I would be arrested, even though it is a public place. The Christian movement's purpose is not to overtake quickly, but little by little. We can't even pray in a school. I would say we've already lost our freedom of religion. It's just that it's happened so slowly that no one noticed. Eventually, conformity will not be an option, it will be forced.
Once again, please don't think that I agree with this. Actually, it's nauseating to know that I could go to Europe and pray to whom ever and where ever I like, but I can't do that here.
