Of cats and thorns
Have you ever tried to stare down a housecat? Lemme tell you, it ain't easy.
I had to do that earlier today as I was de-thorning the cat. she wasn't happy with the whole process, neither was I.
Let me explain. Out here it is weed season, and that means prickers, tons of them. Of course the cat can't help but just about cover herself in them just by walking around outside. Now it wouldn't be a big problem except for a couple of things. One is that you can't hardly touch the cat without slicing your hand. The other is that she likes to sit on my chair, and leave prickers all over it.
After about the millionth time you sit down and encounter pain from all of the thorns in your butt is about the time you decide to de-thorn the cat.
Now both the cat and I know that she doesn't like the thorns, and she sure doesn't want to deal with them, but she doesn't like the inevitable fur pulling of me getting them out either. That, of course, means that every time I sit down to pull thorns out of her fur is a showdown.
I think I probably got about 50 off of her today, she's lucky she ain't bald.
what makes the whole thing worse is that all the work is only good for a few hours. After that she goes back outside and gets covered in the things again.
For now I'm not letting her out. That's up to mom. I'm not going to let the cat undo all of that work.
